Shoalhaven Regional Projects

A number of major developments and industry precincts are being developed in the Shoalhaven and most provide employment and supplier opportunities. Council is supporting the concept of precincts, to encourage complimentary industries to be in close proximity.

In Planning

Cambewarra - Far North Collector Road Network - In Planning

The Far North Collector Road will link Illaroo Road to Moss Vale Road (near Bells Lane) in North Nowra. The project has now commenced with preliminary stages including initial land acquisitions, project planning and development, and survey and design.

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District - Shoalhaven Hospital Masterplan - In Planning

The Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital Master Plan is the Local Health District’s long-term view of what could be possible on the hospital site in the future.

Milton and Ulladulla traffic and transport study - In Planning

Roads and Maritime Services has carried out a traffic and transport study of the Princes Highway through Milton and Ulladulla.

Princes Highway and Jervis Bay Road intersection improvements at Falls Creek - In Planning

Upgrade at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Jervis Bay Road to improve safety and reduce queuing and delays currently experienced by road users.

Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment - In Planning

The Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment will significantly improve healthcare services for residents of the Shoalhaven and provide upgraded health facilities and increase the capabilities of the current hospital.

Nowra Bridge Project - Princes Highway Upgrade - Under Construction

Planning is underway for a new bridge that will improve conditions on the Princes Highway over the Shoalhaven River at Nowra.

Employment Land - Flinders Industrial Estate - Under Construction

First established in 1978, the development at South Nowra now has some quite large factory premises with several international companies operating from the estate.

Employment Land - Subdivision Expansion - Woollamia Stage 5A - Under Construction

Servicing both the local and regional community, this smaller industrial area near Huskisson has a range of operations. Being nearby to Jervis Bay the marine manufacturing industry is well represented producing ocean racing yachts to recreational kayaks.

Placemaking for Vincentia Shopping Village - Under Construction

The Vincentia shopping village offers facilities serving the area’s resident population and visitors. The revitalisation of the precinct will see upgrades to infrastructure and development of public and commercial space.

Shoalhaven Starches Plant - Ethanol Expansion - Under Construction

Expansion to ethanol production, up to 300 million litres/yr and includes installation of a gas pipeline (approx. 4km long), a gas fired co-generation plant, a water treatment plant, packaging plant, container storage and additional fermenters.

Ulladulla Harbour Boardwalk & Harbourside - Under Construction

The Ulladulla Boardwalk and Harbourside Improvement Project will create a new elevated public space that establishes visual connectivity between the commercial centre and Ulladulla Harbour.

zBerry to Bomaderry - Princes Highway upgrade - Completed

Roads and Maritime Services is upgrading the Princes Highway between Berry and Bomaderry. The upgrade will provide about 10.5 kilometres of four-lane highway with median separation between Mullers Lane, Berry and Cambewarra Road, Bomaderry.

zAlbion Park Bypass - Princes Highway Upgrade - Completed

Roads and Maritime Services is beginning construction of an extension of the M1 Princes Motorway between Yallah and Oak Flats to bypass Albion Park Rail. The bypass will complete the "missing link" for a high standard road between Sydney and Bomaderry.

zBurrill Lake Bridge - Princes Highway Upgrade - Completed

Roads and Maritime Services is constructing the new Burrill Lake Bridge on the Princes Highway, just south of Ulladulla. Construction of this $58m project is expected to be complete in early 2018.

zFoxground & Berry Bypass - Completed

The Foxground and Berry bypass project is under construction. It will provide a four-lane highway (two lanes in each direction) with median separation for 12.5 kilometres of the Princes Highway between Toolijooa Road and just south of Andersons Lane.

zGerringong Upgrade - Princes Highway Upgrade - Completed

Roads and Maritime Services has upgraded the Princes Highway between Mount Pleasant and Toolijooa Road. This $329 million project was funded by the NSW Government.

zGrand Pacific Health - Completed

The Grand Pacific Health Centre - Nowra is home to a range of high-quality primary care services that aim to address the health care needs of the local community.

zMundamia - MIND the GaP - University of Wollongong - Shoalhaven Campus - Completed

MIND the GaP is an initiative that works with the community to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all residents of the Shoalhaven region.

zPrinces Highway and Island Point Road intersection improvements at Tomerong - Completed

Transport for NSW will start major work at the Island Point Road intersection on the 4 May 2020 including earthworks and pavement construction surrounding the intersection.

zPrinces Highway and Little Forest Rd - Milton - Completed

Work to improve safety at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Little Forest Road north of Milton was completed on Monday 19 December. The new road is now open to traffic and 100km/h speed limit has been reinstated on this section of the highway.

zSouth Nowra - Princes Highway Upgrade - Completed

The 6.3 kilometre Princes Highway upgrade between Kinghorne Street and Forest Road has been completed. Traffic flow will improve for both local and ‘through’ travelling motorists on this busy section of the Princes Highway.

zSouth Nowra Freight Corridor - Flinders Road - Completed

Albatross Road & Flinders Road Roundabouts – 9.11.2018 – The contractor is working on completing the last section of kerb and gutter and work has commenced on the deep lift asphalt to bring the road to the finished surface level.

zTermeil Creek - Princes Highway Upgrade - Completed

RMS has upgraded the Princes Highway at Termeil Creek. This $21 million project has improved safety and efficiency.
