There is plenty to do in the Shoalhaven. There are art galleries, libraries, wineries, places to eat and have fun and a full array of sporting clubs and facilities and social clubs catering for every interest. The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre in Nowra provides a venue for plays, concerts and conferences.

The Shoalhaven has a temperate climate and plenty of access to open space, national parks and state forests, sporting fields, waterways and other venues for sporting activities. The Shoalhaven River is renowned for waterskiing and boating as are the other inlets and lakes in the Shoalhaven. The Shoalhaven has produced national and international competitors in sports as diverse as equestrian to surfing.

Shoalhaven City Council has a Sports Board to ensure the strategic development of sports in the Shoalhaven. The Sports Board has a searchable list of sporting organisations in the Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven Council also operates Aquatic and Leisure Centres and maintains sea pools.

There are also a number of private gyms and sporting clubs in the region you can search in Yellow Pages or use Council's Community Directory for local sporting clubs.

If you enjoy bushwalking, camping, fishing, bird watching, water sports or just the beauty of the great outdoors, the Shoalhaven is one of the most natural regions in Australia. 68% of the Shoalhaven’s total 4,660 km2 is publically owned.

An established arts community exists within Shoalhaven delivering many forms of expression and involvement. Your interests are well catered for either as a participant or an enthusiastic viewer.

As the home of Bundanon Trust, a national arts institution and Australia’s largest artist in residence program, an active Shoalhaven Arts Centre and plenty of venues set in the Shoalhaven’s natural beauty, the Shoalhaven attracts internationally renowned artists, musicians and writers.

A thriving arts community is also centred around the Jervis Bay area with a popular annual SeaChange Arts Festival. Another area which has attracted creatives is Milton Ulladulla.

The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre is considered one of the most versatile venues in Australia. The Centre features a 914-seat auditorium, 192-seat studio and conference facilities. The auditorium has a capacity for 1000-1200 general floor admission and 200 reserved seating. The venue hosts dining occasions, expos, trade shows, live theatre and music events. Nowra has a multi - cinema complex The Roxy and Huskisson has the Huskisson Pictures and Inlet Theatre – a quaint old fashioned venue which specializes in live theatre and art house cinema releases and holds an annual showing of the Sydney Film Festival’s offerings. Milton has historic Milton Theatre a live theatre venue and Ulladulla also has a cinema, the Arcadia Twin.

As well, the Shoalhaven has an active Amateur Drama Scene with plenty of local productions from Berry to Ulladulla and beyond.
