Darren Wearne’s greatest satisfaction as a Director of Financial Dynamics is seeing his clients’ businesses steadily grow and flourish.

The experienced chartered accountant said his company was proud of its holistic approach to clients.

“We provide much more than a basic tax service - we care more about business growth and look after a client’s business as a whole,” he said.

“We aim to skill our clients and team members to be leaders in their respective businesses and careers by encouraging them to think ‘outside the square’ and challenging them to excel.

“I love working with local businesses and seeing them succeed.”

Financial Dynamics was formed in 1999 by Nowra accountants Bruce McDonald and Frank Taylor. As the firm grew, the pair partnered with Darren and University of Wollongong graduate Shane Tagg to expand its reach and range of services.

The firm looks after a range of clients, mainly small businesses predominantly in the Shoalhaven but also further afield in Sydney, Canberra and South Australia.

In his 17 years with the firm, Darren has witnessed great change in the region’s businesses, as well as massive growth in the area.

“The makeup of businesses has changed and we have a lot more professionals coming here from other areas. They can live and work here, take advantage of the lifestyle and even operate a satellite office,” he said.

“There are so many opportunities for businesses to grow and develop in the Shoalhaven.”

The staff at Financial Dynamics boast a broad range of skills which allows them to advise clients on all aspects of their financial affairs, both personally and in their business.

The team assists clients in all stages of planning, setup, advice and reporting obligations to maximise benefits forbusiness, whilst providing personal and professional client focused solutions.

The firm has close connections with the Shoalhaven campus of the University of Wollongong and actively recruits its graduates. Darren said this connection benefitted both the business and the students.

“The University helps us greatly to retain graduates in the Shoalhaven,” he said.

“It’s easier for the graduates to gain experience and find work, with much less travel.”

Financial Dynamics has developed an innovative program for high school studentsto give them a perspective of careers in accounting. Instead of the traditional work experience, where a student may spend a week in the workplace, Financial Dynamics offers a 90-minute snapshot of a typical day and a taste of real-life experience to help them develop their future pathway.

Darren stressed the importance of mentoring programs to assist young professionals.

He praised the work of the Shoalhaven Professional Business Association in promoting such programs, and for its networking functions to help businesses connect with other professionals.

Born and educated in the region, Darren was eager to return to the Shoalhaven after working for various Sydney accountancy companies.

“I love the sense of community and we have access to great beaches on one side and bush on the other. We really do have the best of both worlds.”
